The heavy rains witnessed in the country are still with us for some more days, the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has stated.

So, far 29 people have died due to the heavy rains, most recently a family of four died after a landslide in Marakwet county.

The Met department has issued a high alert in central, northeastern and coastal Kenya and has asked the public to be on the lookout for floods and landslides.

“Residents in all the mentioned areas are advised to be on the lookout for potential floods. Floodwaters may suddenly appear even in places where it has not rained heavily and can be deeper and faster than they look,” reads the Met advisory dated October 23.
