Areas in Kitui, Baringo invaded by locust

Panic has gripped a section of residents in both Kitui and Baringo county afterย locusts invaded several parts of the counties.

In Kitui the affected areas are Tsekuru, Ngomeni, Kyuso, Matooni; Kathaalani Mukumanza and Kavaani.

However, Kitui Deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau has moved in to assure the locals that the government has swaged into action.

โ€œA team from the Desert Locusts Monitoring unit has been dispatched from Nairobi to spray the locusts,โ€ said Nzau.

In Baringo, the marauding locusts have been spotted in Tirioko ward, Tiaty Sub County. A swarm of locust was spotted first on Sunday at 10 am.

Local leaders in Baringo have called on the national government to intervene and salvage the situation.
