Panic has gripped a section of residents in both Kitui and Baringo county after locusts invaded several parts of the counties.
In Kitui the affected areas are Tsekuru, Ngomeni, Kyuso, Matooni; Kathaalani Mukumanza and Kavaani.
However, Kitui Deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau has moved in to assure the locals that the government has swaged into action.
“A team from the Desert Locusts Monitoring unit has been dispatched from Nairobi to spray the locusts,” said Nzau.
In Baringo, the marauding locusts have been spotted in Tirioko ward, Tiaty Sub County. A swarm of locust was spotted first on Sunday at 10 am.
Local leaders in Baringo have called on the national government to intervene and salvage the situation.
