75% of employed Kenyans earn below Sh50,000 per month — Research

New research by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) set to be released early next week has revealed that only 79,982 employed Kenyans take home a salary of over Sh100,000 per month.

This means that of the 2.77 million employed Kenyans, 2.89% earn above Sh100,000 per month.

The report further revealed that the gross monthly per capita income is Sh16,833.

On the flipside, 74.58 per cent of employed Kenyans earn below Sh50,000 while 63 per cent earn between Sh50,000 and Sh99,999.

That doesn’t end there, a whole 10 per cent of employed Kenyans take home between Sh0 to Sh19,999.

Finally, more men are taking home Sh100,000 per month compared to women.
