Kenyan rapper Kevin Ombima, popularly known as King Kaka has been the talk of the town this weekend after releasing hard-hitting spoken word poetry called ‘Wajinga Nyinyi.’

In the art piece which became an instant hit on YouTube, amassing 68,000 views in a couple of hours, after its release, the rapper calls out leaders for being corrupt, dishonest and unfair.

“How do you sleep at night, knowing mkono yako imeuwa, not close to purity . . . promises hamweki hii ni relationship ya aina gani? Is it true mkona account off shore zimejaa money,” he raps.

In the piece, he goes on to condemn high ethnic tension normally witnessed within the country, more so during elections, at the same time blaming electorates for voting in wrong leaders.

“Sisi ni vipofu na viziwi na tunajua translator wetu alisha dedi 2022 already si mnajua nani ni prezi? Nyinyi voters ni washenzi. Kwani hamjui mdomo yangu ilibatizwa na wakongwe, so nashangaa alikili yenu time ya kura. . .Hiyo wiki ndio najuanga jirani yangu huwa mjaka, Kama kumbe huwanga msapere, hata salamu hata pata,” he says.

In the piece he goes on to question the education system, noting that the governing body charged with its implementation has done little to push for education reforms that aim at impacting the society and the youth in general.

“Naskia mafuta imepanda tena. Imetoka Turkana ndio irudi tena . . . laptop ni multibillion project na walimu wa ushago hawana lights. . .Karibu to Kenya economy of China. I support teachers, doctor’s wakii strike, polisi anaishi kwa keja imeseparetiwa na curtains.
